Taker is believed to be the first real king of what would become The Six Duchies. Little more than his name and some extravagant legends remain of him.
Taker was the first Outislander to claim Buck as the First Duchy, and chose Buckkeep for his permanent residence. He is the founder of the royal line.
One of the legends is that by seeing the timbered fortifications of Buckkeep he annouced: "If there is a fire and a meal there, I shan't be leaving again." (Quote from Robin Hobb's novel Assassin's Apprentice)
