Heeby is one of the newly hatched dragons from Maulkin's Tangle. She is scrawny and not very intelligent. Unlike many of the other dragons, she views no shame in being ridden. Heeby is reclusive towards humans, and usually only speaks to her keeper and the other dragons. When compared to other female dragons such as Sintara or Tintaglia, Heeby appears quite good natured. She is red scaled with golden eyes.
Dragon Keeper[]
Heeby is introduced when the keepers first meet the dragons they will be taking care of. Unlike the other dragons, Heeby is the only one that accepts the name her keeper gave her, much to the disdain of Sintara. Every evening during the first leg of their journey, Rapskal encourages her attempts to fly.

During the flash flood on the journey to Kelsingra, Heeby and Rapskal are separated from the group and presumed dead. After hours of swimming, they reach the side of the river, where Heeby recharges by consuming formerly domesticated livestock and sleeping on an old Elderling-built dragon heating bed, allowing her body to heal and grow as needed. After gaining the ability to fly, she and Rapskal finally reach Kelsingra. Together, they then set out back down the river in search of their friends. They finally find the group stuck in a large swath of wetlands, and help lead them the rest of the way.
City of Dragons[]
As the only dragon with the full capability of flight, Heeby is able to prosper - although her overhunting is proving to become a liability towards the other dragons, who have yet to fly. After the other keeper's complaints, Raskal encourages Heeby to drive a stampede of animals towards the area where the dragons are living, allowing them to feet to satiation for the first time. Heeby also serves to ferry her keeper, Rapskal, across the river from the old human village to the Elderling city. At Rapskal's request, Alise Kincarron, Leftrin, and Thymara are brought along on a few visits as well.
Blood of Dragons[]
Heeby wears an ancient battle harness and saddle for Rapskal (now melded with the warrior Tellator), and together they ride to Chalced with the other dragons to bring war in vengeance for the Duke's dragon hunting.
